Chessie
Conference Count-down
Next Tuesday, the 32nd Annual Chesapeake Conference
will open with keynoter Sandy Hillman, CEO, Sandy Hillman Communications
who will remind us that as we all grapple with the "new media"
and the "new tools," we have to remember to go back to start.
Start is that place where we put relations into PR.
Hillman,
who was dubbed "the impresario of urban America" by Time magazine
for her revolutionary and internationally recognized work in transforming
Baltimore's Inner Harbor into a world-class tourism destination, will
share her experiences garnered from a career path has taken her from
Madison Avenue to Capitol Hill and City Hall.
Following the keynote, the conference offers two morning workshop sessions
focusing on the basics of traditional PR and how to add in the new tools
for success. The sessions include case studies from smaller non-profits
like Komen Maryland and The Developmental Disabilities Coalition and
corporate giants including McCormick Tea Company and Target.
The afternoon
sessions include two hands-on social media sessions (so bring your laptop
- WiFi is free!). One is a complete tour of Twitter including the opportunity
to create a new account. The other will focus on LinkedIn and cover
Google Reader and Google Alerts. Following these sessions, you can pitch
your story face-to-face with Baltimore Media or get all your answers
to APR questions from a panel of APR experts.
No Conference
can be successful without a full cadre of volunteers and our sponsors.
Please take time to thank the companies that are helping to support
this full-day of learning - their contributions keep the cost to you
low!
